How Online Mediation Works

Mediation doesn't require a conference room. All of my sessions are conducted online, which means you can resolve your conflict from home, without needing to live near Dallas (or Texas) or take time off to travel. Here's exactly how it works, and where I'm able to help.

What “Online Mediation” Actually Looks Like

  • Platform: Sessions are held over Zoom - no software to install beyond a browser or free app.

  • Format: Joint sessions with both parties, or separate ("caucus") sessions if that's more comfortable — same options you'd have in person.

  • What you need: A private space, a phone or computer with video, and a stable internet connection.

  • Length: Sessions typically run 2-4 hours, and most cases take 2-4 sessions total.

  • Documents: Any paperwork, intake forms, or draft agreements are handled digitally. Nothing requires an in-person signature.

Does It Work As Well As In-Person Mediation?

Yes. Mediation is fundamentally a structured conversation guided by a neutral third party. That structure doesn't depend on being in the same room. Video sessions actually offer a few practical advantages:

  • Each party can join from a comfortable, private space rather than a shared office.

  • Breaks and separate caucus conversations are easier to manage.

  • No travel time or scheduling around a physical location. Sessions can happen around work and family obligations. Evening and weekend mediations are available at no extra cost.

Do I Need to Be in Texas?

No. While I'm based in Dallas, Texas, mediation is a private agreement between the parties involved. It isn't tied to a courthouse the way litigation is, which means location generally isn't a barrier. I work with clients:

  • Anywhere in Texas

  • Anywhere in the US and even globally.

  • The one exception is if you have a court ordered mediation outside of Texas. Your state will require you to use a court approved mediator in your state.

Who This Is a Good Fit For

  • Couples or families who live in different cities or states than each other

  • Anyone who wants to avoid travel, courthouse visits, or taking time off work

  • People who feel more comfortable having a hard conversation from their own space

  • Landlord-tenant or neighbor disputes where an in-person meeting isn't practical or desired
